What Are Women’s  Circles?

Women’s Circles are safe, supportive gatherings where women come together to share, reflect, and reconnect — with themselves, each other, and the cycles of life.  Where you can be heard without judgement or advice. Rooted in the ancient tradition of women meeting in community, these circles offer a sacred space for authentic connection, storytelling, meditation, and mutual empowerment. Each circle is unique, but all are guided by the same intention: to create belonging, healing, and feminine wisdom in a world that often asks us to rush and compete

A Short History of Women’s Circles

Women gathering in circles is an age-old practice found in cultures across the world. From ancient European hearth gatherings to Indigenous talking circles, from sewing bees to moon lodges, women have long met to celebrate milestones, share knowledge, and support one another through life’s transitions.

In the UK, many of these traditions faded during the industrial and modern eras as community structures changed. However, from the 1970s onwards — inspired by the women’s movement and renewed interest in holistic well-being — women’s circles began to re-emerge. Today, circles can be found throughout the UK, held in living rooms, yoga studios, community halls, and online spaces.

Modern women’s circles draw from both ancient practices and contemporary approaches such as mindfulness, creative expression, and trauma-informed facilitation. They may include meditation, journaling, ritual, or simply open sharing — always held in a spirit of respect and confidentiality.

Why Join a Circle?

In a women’s circle, you are seen, heard, and valued — not for what you do, but for who you are. Circles provide a sanctuary from daily pressures, a place to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with your own wisdom. Many women describe the experience as grounding, healing, and transformative.

Whether you come seeking community, creativity, healing, or personal growth, a women’s circle offers a gentle reminder: you are not alone.
